Walkthrough

How it works

  1. 1

    Paste your title and description

Or write new ones in the editor. The preview updates as you type so you can iterate fast.

  2. 2

    Toggle device modes

Mobile previews are tighter than desktop - what fits on one may truncate on the other.

  3. 3

    Watch the truncation warnings

Pixel widths are an approximation. Stay 5–10% under the limit for safety across browsers and font rendering.

  4. 4

    Front-load the keyword

Keywords near the start of the title carry more ranking weight and read better in the SERP.

Why it matters

A small detail that compounds.

Your title and meta description are the only things Google shows in the SERP. They're your conversion copy - and they get truncated more aggressively than most teams realize.

Google measures title tags in pixels (not characters), so a title with lots of W's and M's might get cut off where one with I's and L's wouldn't. The simulator approximates real-world rendering so you can see the cut-off before you ship.

FAQ

Common questions.

How accurate is the pixel width?

Within ~10%. Google uses Arial-derived fonts and renders slightly differently across Chrome, Safari, and Edge. We recommend staying 5–10% under the limit for safety.

Why does my title sometimes change in actual results?

Google rewrites about 60% of titles to better match the query. To fight that: write tight, keyword-led titles that match the dominant search intent for your target query.

How long should my meta description be?

Aim for 140–155 characters. Long enough to fill the snippet, short enough to avoid mid-word truncation.

Does meta description affect ranking?

Not directly, but it affects click-through rate - and CTR is a real ranking signal. A great description can move you up a position even without changing the page itself.
