How it works
- 1
Paste a title or list
Drop in a single article title or a whole list (one per line). Works for blog posts, product pages, and category URLs.
- 2
Pick your separator and length
Most sites use hyphens for SEO. Cap length at 60–75 characters to stay under most CMS limits and keep slugs scannable.
- 3
Strip the stop words
Removing "the", "and", "of", etc. shortens the slug and concentrates keyword weight without losing meaning.
- 4
Copy and ship
Copy a single slug or the whole batch in one click. Use it in WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, or your headless CMS.
A small detail that compounds.
Clean, descriptive URL slugs are one of the cheapest SEO wins. They show up in search results, link previews, and social shares - and they tell Google exactly what a page is about before a single byte of HTML loads.
Long, auto-generated slugs (?p=1234, /post-2026-03-29-final-v3) leak ranking signal, look untrusted in SERPs, and break when titles change. A short, keyword-front-loaded slug holds up forever.
Slugs are step one. We handle the other 9 steps too.
A great slug doesn't rank by itself. You still need a long-form article that answers the search intent better than the top 10 results, internal links from other pages on your site, and clean technical SEO underneath it all.
Sight AI handles all of it from a single prompt. Our 13+ AI agents research the topic, build the outline, write the article, optimize the meta, generate the URL slug, add internal links, create the images, and push the finished post to your CMS.
- Long-form articles with research, citations, and original images
- Auto-generated slugs, titles, and meta descriptions tuned for CTR
- Internal linking that scans your existing site and inserts natural anchors
- One-click publish to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Ghost, and more
Common questions.
What is a URL slug?
A URL slug is the part of your page's URL that comes after the domain - e.g. "url-slug-generator" in /tools/url-slug-generator. It should be a short, readable, keyword-rich version of the page title.
How long should a URL slug be?
Aim for 3–5 words and under 75 characters. Google can display longer slugs, but shorter is easier to share, link, and remember - and it concentrates keyword relevance.
Should I remove stop words?
For most blog and content pages, yes. Removing "the", "and", "of", etc. shortens the slug and emphasizes the meaningful keywords. Don't over-strip though - sometimes a stop word is needed for readability ("how-to-do-x" reads better than "how-do-x").
Hyphens or underscores?
Always hyphens. Google treats hyphens as word separators but underscores as part of the same word, so /best_seo_tools is read as one giant word. Hyphens are also more conventional in modern URLs.
